Third Quarter Reflection: Growth and Challenges in Research and Web Design

Third Quarter Reflection: Growth and Challenges in Research and Web Design

This third quarter has been a period of significant learning and growth, marked by both exciting discoveries and challenging obstacles. My experiences in conducting Community-Based Research (CBR) and developing web pages using HTML and CSS have provided valuable insights into the intricacies of both fields, highlighting areas of strength and areas needing further development.

One of the most significant learning outcomes this quarter was gaining a practical understanding of Community-Based Research methodologies. The process of designing, implementing, and analyzing a CBR project provided invaluable experience in community engagement, data collection, and the ethical considerations inherent in research involving human subjects. Equally rewarding was mastering basic HTML and CSS coding, enabling me to create and design functional web pages. I gained proficiency in utilizing various tags, including those for ordered lists ( <ol> ,  <li> ), unordered lists ( <ul> ,  <li> ), and description lists ( <dl> ,  <dt> ,  <dd> ), building a foundational understanding of web page construction.

However, the journey wasn't without its challenges. I encountered significant difficulties in several key areas. The creation and design of web pages proved more complex than initially anticipated, particularly when working with hyperlink tags. Precisely implementing hyperlinks that functioned correctly and seamlessly integrated into the overall page design required significant troubleshooting and iterative adjustments. Furthermore, the writing and formulation of the written components for the CBR process presented a considerable hurdle. Crafting clear, concise, and factually accurate write-ups that effectively communicated the research findings required careful attention to detail and extensive research to support the claims made. Finally, the presentation of our web pages and research findings also posed a challenge. Ensuring a coherent, engaging, and informative presentation that effectively conveyed the key findings of our work demanded meticulous planning and rehearsal.

To overcome these challenges, I actively sought collaborative solutions and utilized available resources. Open communication with my co-researchers proved invaluable in addressing the complexities of web page design and the writing process. We engaged in brainstorming sessions, shared our individual strengths, and actively supported each other in overcoming our respective challenges. I also leveraged online resources, including tutorials and documentation, to refine my understanding of HTML and CSS, particularly focusing on the effective use of hyperlink tags. To improve the quality of our write-ups, we meticulously researched and cited relevant articles and sources, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our information.

Finally, to enhance our presentation skills, we dedicated significant time to planning and rehearsing our presentation, ensuring a clear and organized flow of information. Moving forward, I am committed to building upon the foundation I have established this quarter. I plan to further expand my knowledge of HTML and CSS, delving deeper into more advanced concepts and techniques to enhance my web design capabilities. I also aim to further refine my research and writing skills, focusing on developing a more concise and engaging writing style. The experiences of this quarter have provided me with a solid foundation for future endeavors, and I am eager to apply the knowledge and skills gained to future projects, both within the context of ICT and beyond.

The collaborative spirit and problem-solving strategies employed this quarter will be crucial assets in my future academic and professional pursuits.
